The Cross
This is the cross you stand behind. It watches the door so the ones you love can rest. Christ carried it first; now you carry a little of it — oxblood over the heart, plain enough that only He and you need know why. Strength was never the point. Love was. This is only what love does when it has to stand up.

The Record
We started with two, and those two still hold the rest of it up. The Cross stands at the door and doesn’t sit down. What it stands there for is the Heart of Christ, and your own heart kept behind it. He has never once left that door. There are more pieces now, in colours we did not start with. Every one of them is saying that same thing again. Long after the noise is gone, the mark stays. You keep it.
